The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources, Bureau for Public Health, Office of Emergency Medical Services (EMS), EMS for Children (EMSC) Program collaborated with the West Virginia Violence and Injury Prevention Program (VIPP) to develop and produce a safe driving video to put a face on the effects of unsafe driving practices.
The campaign slogan, “Stay Alive, Just Drive”, addresses the dangers of impaired and distracted driving. This video titled “For Andrea” is ten minutes in length and contains interviews regarding the aftermath on a West Virginia family and community who lost a 14 year old to a drunk driver. This video is being shared at no cost with numerous agencies across West Virginia, such as county Department of Health and Human Resources offices, Division of Motor Vehicle offices, Emergency Medical Services agencies, the West Virginia State Police, and West Virginia schools to inform students grades 5 through 12 and West Virginia residents about the importance of practicing safe driving.
